This class meets weekly on Fridays, 1:00-2:00 pm, September 6 - 27. Dig in to the fundamentals of relief printmaking in this weekly course! You will create your own one-color print using Speedball gouges (with safe practices), linoleum carving blocks, and color-fast, water-soluble inks. You will learn how to make an effective design by experimenting with positive and negative space, texture, shading, and mark making. You will learn how to transfer a design to a block, including "thinking backwards" to plan for your design to print in reverse. You will learn how to align your block with your paper (called “registration”) and pull prints by hand without a press, for easy application at home.
